Genre is a term which is used to describe any category of literature such as music, art or film. A sub-genre is a a film and new media production which has small bit of another genre within the main genre of the film, an example of this could be a 'Thriller' and a sub-genre would be 'supernatural thriller'. In my research on genre and sub-genre's I will be identifying films with a sub genre and showing how they could influence my idea when filming our own thriller.
SUPERNATURAL THRILLER
A supernatural thriller could influence my idea when coming to film my thriller because the theme supernatural could work in many ways, such as there could be many objects or characters which could fit in with the theme 'supernatural' such as characters playing as "Gods" or "Goddesses" and "Ghosts" could come under the sub-genre as 'supernatural'.
ACTION THRILLER
Action thrillers' are a good sub-genre to get idea from when planning on your own thriller as most of the 'action' is very hectic based and could be filmed in an easy location. I find action thriller's really interesting too.
CRIME THRILLER
Even though most crime thrillers are targeted for an older audience, I believe that this sub-genre could be an interesting and versatile theme that I could work with whilst planning and looking for ideas for my opening of a thriller. The sub-genre crime thriller could be planned in so many ways which would help give my opening of a thriller more exciting to not only the makers of the opening but also to the audience.
